Caesar's breath was hot against her neck, it had her body shivering a bit against her will.
"Do you hate me now, Adeline? Won't you ever look at me the same way? It's still me. I haven't changed. You just never knew that side of me, that is the difference, doll. I would never hurt you, and I know you are afraid of me now, but-"
"I don't…I don't hate you, Caesar," Adeline interjected shakily. She grabbed his head, lifting it and making him look at her. "I was scared. Maybe I still am. And I just…I'm sorry."
A deep breath fled her nose, and she lowered her gaze to the floor, her teeth biting onto her bottom lip. "I missed you. I just want you to hold me and... Y-you said I could always ask if I ever wanted you to-"
Caesar cupped her cheek, claiming her lip ever so needily. Lord, how long had it been since he last tasted her lips? It felt like forever. He thought it was never going to be a possibility again, but here he was with her in his arms.
