Chapter 28 - Unclean Hands

After feeding the zombie horde with eight portions of food, Noah finally ceased.

The debts of the mother and daughter were finally settled.

"It's about time we left."

As for the others, they were left to fend for themselves.

Noah, controlling a metal table to float outside the window, called the mother and daughter to the window.

Then, hugging them one by one, he jumped onto the metal table, slowly drifting down towards the ground.

With his current control over electromagnetic forces, doing this wasn't difficult, though it felt a bit unnatural, like lifting oneself off the ground by pulling on one's boots...

The mother and daughter clung to Noah, daring not to look down.

Smelling the masculine scent coming from him, Liu Hui's face flushed, and her heart suddenly started racing.

This god-like strong man had abruptly appeared in their world, rescuing them from the mire, so powerful yet reassuring.

She just didn't know his age, he seemed younger than her.

Liu Hui felt a tinge of melancholy.

She was already a mother, her youth no longer hers...

Soon, the three of them landed safely. A few zombies madly rushed over, which Noah swiftly dealt with his dagger.

Half a day passed, and the streets were denser with zombies, including more mutated ones.

After a moment's thought, Noah took out a Saymo bike from his wide-space storage.

"Come on, I'll take you back."

He had initially thought of driving a sedan back for more space and comfort for the three of them.

But given the current road conditions and the number of zombies, driving a sedan was no longer practical.

Encountering a giant zombie could lead to being stopped or even flipped over by the mutated ones. He might be fine, but the mother and daughter, being ordinary humans, would be in grave danger.

For safety reasons, it's better to ride the motorcycle, which is fast and flexible.

It's definitely not for any other reason like showing off.

Liu Hui sat in the back, while the smaller Qiaoqiao sat in front, nestled in Noah's arms.

"Hold on tight, I'm going to go fast."

After instructing Liu Hui, Noah revved the engine, and the motorcycle roared forward at high speed.

Liu Hui quickly wrapped her arms around Noah's waist, resting her head against his back.

As Noah had said, his speed was indeed very fast.

He adhered to the philosophy that real speed is about being fast around curves, not just going straight without accelerating. He pushed the throttle to the max without any worry of overturning.

With the aid of electromagnetic force, stability was greatly enhanced. Not only could it travel on the ground, but if necessary, it could also take off with its rider and fly over the zombie horde or even along walls, as motorcycles should be ridden in such a manner.

After speeding for several kilometers, a rumbling noise suddenly came from the sky, accompanied by the cawing of a flock of bloodthirsty crows.

Looking up, they saw a helicopter circling overhead, followed by a large number of bloodthirsty crows. However, because the helicopter flew higher than the crows could ascend, the birds were unable to reach it.

The helicopter occasionally scattered papers that fluttered in the breeze.

Noah, with a light exclamation, steered the motorcycle up a wall and onto the roof of a bungalow, grabbing one of the papers.

Upon close inspection, it turned out to be a leaflet.

The content was roughly as follows:

[Survivors, please hurry to 'Golden Dragon Reservoir.' We are stationed here and can provide you with ample food and water, as well as ensure the safety of you and your family.]

For safety, riding a motorcycle is better; it's fast and agile.

Certainly not for any trivial reason like showing off.

Liu Hui sat in the back, while the smaller Qiaoqiao sat in front, nestled in Noah's arms.

"Hold tight, I'm going to go fast."

After informing Liu Hui, Noah revved the engine, and the motorcycle roared off into the distance.

Liu Hui quickly wrapped her arms around Noah's waist, leaning her head against his back.

As Noah had said, his speed was indeed very fast.

He adhered to the belief that true speed comes from handling curves well, not just straight-line acceleration, pushing the throttle to its limit without worrying about flipping over.

With the support of electromagnetic force, the bike's stability was greatly enhanced. It could not only ride on the ground but, if necessary, also fly over the zombie horde or even along walls, as motorcycles should be ridden.

After speeding for several kilometers, a thunderous noise and the cawing of a bloodthirsty flock of crows suddenly came from the sky.

Looking up, a helicopter was seen hovering overhead, followed by a massive flock of bloodthirsty crows. However, due to the helicopter's altitude exceeding the crows' maximum height, the flock couldn't reach it.

Occasionally, the helicopter would drop leaflets that fluttered down with the breeze.

Noah, with a light exclamation, maneuvered the motorcycle up a wall to a flat rooftop and grabbed one of the leaflets.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a flyer.

The content was straightforward:

[Please, survivors, hurry to 'Golden Dragon Reservoir.' We are stationed here, ready to provide you with ample food and water, ensuring the safety of you and your family.]

The back of the flyer featured a simple map leading to the coordinates of Golden Dragon Reservoir.

The message was concise:

It's like striking gold in the village... no, more like a pie falling from the sky, right at Golden

Dragon Reservoir. Come quickly, where food and safety are guaranteed.

Noah disdainfully crumpled the flyer and threw it away.

Such words could fool no one, not even ghosts.

However, it's undeniable that, often, people are easier to deceive than ghosts.

His disbelief didn't mean others wouldn't believe. In these chaotic times, the promise of food and safety outweighs all other needs, and many would still risk exploring despite knowing better.

In his memory, there indeed existed recollections of Golden Dragon Reservoir.

It was a highly unique power organization.

After the apocalypse, a riot in a prison led to the escape of inmates who then established this force.

Quickly seizing Golden Dragon Reservoir with the weapons and ammunition from the prison, they used it as a base for expansion.

Their occupation of the reservoir was due to its advantageous geographic conditions.

With a power station nearby, they never lacked electricity. The reservoir itself provided an inexhaustible water supply, and with fishing banned, it teemed with fish and shrimp for food.

The reservoir's location was also strategically advantageous, situated high with only one mountain path for access. This allowed for defense from above or a retreat to an island in the middle of the reservoir for isolation.

From energy to food and water resources, to the terrain, all aspects were superior.

In some respects, Golden Dragon Reservoir was indeed a very safe place.

But whether the people there were good remained to be seen.

You should know, those occupying that place are all extremely vicious criminals. Would they really be so kind as to provide survivors with food and shelter for free?

That's doubtful.

Moreover, Golden Dragon Reservoir later got renamed to "Sinners' Island."

It does show some self-awareness.

However, many people misread "Sin" as "Drunken," thinking "Drunken Island" was some kind of paradise with wine rivers and meat forests.

As the roar of the helicopter faded into the distance, Noah snapped back to reality, turned the bike around, and headed down from the rooftop, driving towards their base with the two women.

He planned to drop Liu Hui and her daughter off first.

Suddenly, he was struck by the idea of checking out Golden Dragon Reservoir himself.

Having declared themselves kings of their domain, they must have considerable resources, right?

For some reason, ever since replicating the wide-space ability, Noah always felt an itch in his hands, a discomfort that only subsided when acquiring something, especially upon knowing others had hoarded many supplies, that itch intensified.

Even while aimlessly wandering through the hotel earlier, he casually walked away with hundreds of beds and bedding...

His hands had become not so clean.
