Chen actually had exhausted his energy in his fight before. He also used a lot of energy to destroy his surrounding so when he wanted to turn back into his human form, he felt as if he didn't have energy to do so.
BUT HE HAD TO! What if Li Shi Ying woke up and saw him in his dragon form? Well he never showed her his dragon form before but guessing at his scale color and his unique golden eyes...the chance for Li Shi Ying to recognize him as Long Ao Zhen was high!
