When Zhao Lifei arrived at the main mansion, she surprised the new servants who weren't used to seeing such a grown woman be afraid of thunder, but Old Butler Tang knew what to do. He led her to her bedroom, ordered for warm milk with honey, and had the curtains shut tight.
The windows were locked, the lights were turned on, and Old Butler Tang took further precautions by playing soothing but loud piano music that blocked out the noise. He then instructed some of the staff to bring a noise canceling machine and had it set up. Once she was done with her warm milk, he fluffed the pillows and was able to coerce her to sleep.
Old Butler Tang let out a sigh of relief upon seeing her finally, blissfully asleep. But the serenity on her face was only a facade that hid her chaotic nightmare filled with blood and hospital gowns.
By the time Zhao Moyao got home from work, he was exhausted. The meeting ran longer than planned and many complications arose, but he was finally home.
