Chapter 29 - Pulled Wrist

Wu SuYi hated JingYi's authoritative tone. Although he never once had wounded her body physically, he was one of her trouble that added to her stress when she was younger.

When she still wanted the attention of her family, Wu SuYi would always desperately attempt to get closer to her two older brothers. HongRan for once never cared about her and ignored her as though she never existed.

But JingYi was different. There was one time when he was the kindest person in the world for her. But the next moment after his kindness, she was faced with the harsh truth of his cruelty.

One day when he had helped her and scolded the servant who hadn't prepared her the best clothing to visit their aunt, the next day he had asked her to wait for him to share a time together.

Her child self was beyond joyful she wouldn't have to be alone in her room, waiting for someone that never came. She thought the day when there was someone to notice that she was alive, had come. She didn't asked much, she only was simply a lonely child.

Yet after raising her hope, JingYi didn't visited her once. It was also the last time they ever talked for the whole year until he had repeated his actions.

As much as Wu SuYi wanted to refuse entering his car, she knew her family was filled with bunch of psychopaths. They would do anything to make the world to revolve around them.

She could only resigned and entered. A part of her told her she could refuse. But if she does, she knew what punishment would face her. All her freedom will be stolen. She knew her family had the power to do so.

In the car, she could only feel uncomfortable with how JingYi sat right next to her. The closure was displeasing. She wanted to run away.

"You are obedient today. I see you're not running your mouth as you had before."

His words made her feel worse. She stared at him, her eyes unwavering despite how his presence dug of her childhood trauma.

"Maybe because someone had threatened me," if that wasn't enough, she wondered if JingYi had plugged his ears. "I don't want to get married." She went straight to the point. She didn't want to sit for a longer time with him inside the restaurant.

What was he trying to do? Pretending to be a happy siblings?

Disgusting, thought Wu SuYi to herself.

JingYi's eyes quickly turn sharp. She could feel herself flinching. It was as if she was traumatized by spider and the very spider came again near her. No matter how small or big the spider was, the trauma still scared her and it wasn't easy for her to get rid of her fear as she wanted desperately.

The chauffeur sitting at the driver seat also flinched.

"Isn't that your purpose in life?" He asked.

"My purpose in life is to get away from Wu Family," she delivered her words unhurried but in fact she was pleading to god to let her exit the damn car.

His tone dropped lower, anger causing his brows to crook, "Is it fun being rebellious? We have let you be for a whole five years. Isn't that enough for you to grow up? We all know you wanted this for attention."

Wu SuYi's heart dropped. Her gaze that had been looking away finally stared back at JingYi. Her anger was beyond words. She was fuming. How dare he!

"How dare you!" Wu SuYi clenched her fist. Her voice tight while looking back at him who appeared calm. "Who was it that had forgotten my existence? Who was it that treated me as if I'm dead? Who was it that rather save their money than to save their own sibling who almost met death? I want your attention? The Wu's family? Dream on."

Wu SuYi was ready to leave she hastily opened the door as the car stopped at the red light. She didn't care. She only wanted to leave. His words were too painful and unbearable for her to hear.

JingYi caught her wrist and tighten his grip. He was uselessly strong as always. His grip was enough to bruise her skin.

"You're not leaving." He stressed his words. "Father give you time to find a person you can marry with but we don't accept any lesser men into our family."

"What are you doing?" She questioned, sensing something underneath his words.

"We will be meeting Master Du's son. The minister," JingYi said.

The minister's son? The one who was over seventy year old? The one who had grandchildren already?

Disgust fueled Wu SuYi's eyes. He stared at her back shocked face and scoffed. "The only thing you have is that beauty you got from your mother. You maybe smart but that intelligence you have isn't enough for our family. Serve your purpose like all others in this family had. It's your responsibility."

"No!" She struggled, trying to get away.

The driver couldn't help but stare behind them and Wu SuYi looked at him pleadingly. The driver however was also someone who couldn't help her as he chose to turn away.

She had studied martial arts to defend herself. So somewhere in the future nothing like this could happen to her. But Wu SuYi froze. She felt weak. Her hand struggling to release her wrist was also weak. It made her angry at how useless she was in face of her older brother.

"What are you waiting for?" JingYi glared at the driver. "Go." He ordered.

The driver hurriedly drove to the hotel. Seeing the tall building, Wu SuYi panicked.

"Release my hand or I will sue you!" Wu SuYi glared, her voice turning feral.

JingYi smiled sadistically, "Try it. We will see if you would still have your law license when you brought up the case."

Jing Yi stepped out of the car when they arrived. He dragged her outside the car as if she was a bag of potato. Wu SuYi wanted to kick him, she had enough power to do so. But the fear rooted since her childhood to never go against her family member made her body freeze.

"Don't make me embarrassed and walk," JingYi ordered her. "Or should I look up at those people working near you and ruin their life?"

Wu SuYi's eyes widened. She hatefully stared at JingYi. She didn't want to go! But will she sacrifice all others who had no relation to this matter to suffer?! She became a lawyer not to hurt people but to protect them.

If only someone would help her! But painfully knowing, Wu SuYi is aware of how no one would have her back. In this world, she was her only shield.

At that moment a hand settled on JingYi's hand. The same hand that had squeezed and almost crush her wrist. JingYi winced. The strength her helper had was beyond what JingYi could endure.

He quickly released her hand much to her relief. When Wu SuYi looked up, she saw the broad back covering her face. The short hair that reaches the top of his clean neck and the black ink seeping out from his suit collar that she first noticed even though she had met Han XiGuang for a couple of time.

"Hands off," Han XiGuang warned. His deep low voice could send chill to those who listen to him. JingYi was no exception.
