When Liu Sumeng went to see her, she was coughing up her lung, blood spilling upon ashen hands that were pressed against her visage. The Ivory Sword Saint felt his gut flip and tense and it wasn't because he had been tipped about this Chen Anyue being possessed.
He looked over at the attendants, who did not appear to be particularly alarmed by the Chen Princess's state. Instead, they seemed fatigued, each bearing dark circles below their eyes. They dutifully tended to the Chen Princess, bringing her water and wiping her brow.
One of them bowed to the Ivory Sword Saint, "Forgive me. She was fine just moments ago… Mayhaps Master Liu might wish come again at a different hour."
"I will wait," he replied resolutely, stepping back as he tried to blend in with the wall, as to not interfere with the servants' work. The attendant looked at him, uncertain about his decision but Chen Anyue began another coughing fit and she was quickly drawn back to tend to her mistress.
