Chapter 39 - Unexpected Turn

Young Jae felt the breath becoming closer as Min Jun moved near his face. Young Jae's heard his own heartbeat. The blush on the cheek spread deep into his neck.

Min Jun looked at the enticing view in front of him. The warmth of Young Jae's blushing cheeks spread on his hands, making his heart swelled up in an indescribable pride.

The thought of Min Jun Kissing him made Young Jae anxious and scared.

'If I let Min Jun Kiss me, would he call me sweet names as he did with Henry?' the thought was appealing to Young Jae at the moment more than anything in his life.

Suddenly, Jo Rim's face flashed in his mind. He acted as if he liked Young Jae for money and outed him to his entire family. When he pushed the painful memory away of the douchebag away, Ki Hoon Joo's face sneered at him in mind. Min Jun froze at the moment.

'I loved both of them with all my heart. I took the time to accept my sexuality. Even then, I did not even agree to date those scumbags easily. They used me and left me in pain. But here I am letting a guy, whose face I don't even know of to kiss me. Did I become that desperate?' A small wave of disgust washed over Young Jae

He did want to be kissed by the man whose face he did not even saw yet. He did not want to be the play toy and stepping stone for others. Young Jae was about to push Min Jun away, but Min Jun's action froze him on the spot.

The warm skin under his hand turned cold, and the pale skinny cheek turned rigid as Young Jae grit his teeth. The ragged breath made Min Jun realise that Young Jae was agitated. The tempting image of Young Jae in front of him turned bitter and cold.

When Min Jun noticed the gradual changes, he frowned in dislike.

Bile rose to his throat when he a small sinister voice whispered in his mind, mockingly.

'Someone hurt your little tokki before in the name of relationship. He does not trust you. Someone hurt your precious tokki… Maybe in the same way you hurt many other innocent people who fell in love with a heartless-demon like you.'

Min Jun froze at the mocking words.

Since he rejected Henry a couple of weeks ago, he was questioning his lifestyle. His consciousness always oddly picks on him; what it did now really struck a chord in him!

Moon Chin Hae and baby-doll entered the research centre little late than they planned. The scene in front of them was questionable, but at this point, nothing about this crazy man could surprise them.

An improper posture greeted them but still walked in as if it did not matter.

Doctor Ro was lying down on the floor when his leg was sprawled on the sofa. His feet were pressing on the backrest. He was using the sofa cushion as a pillow as he laid there in the rug.

How could a renowned doctor and researcher even use such an invert and unconventional position while reading was beyond science?!

Chin Hae looked at baby-doll who was way too used to her uncles' antics since childhood.

"Shouldn't he be an advocate of proper posture as a doctor? Why is he lying like that and reading?" Chin Hae frowned down on the horrible and unhealthy position the crazy man preferred.

Baby-doll did not even bother to look at Chin Hae. She had a hearty smile on her face which was always reserved for her family. She looked at her uncle."Preachers usually don't practice."

Moon Chin Hae rolled his eyes at her response. Sometimes baby-doll treasures the words she speaks as if it would cost her tons of gold to say more words. A trait she inherited from her two mothers.

"Samchon! What are you reading like that?" she kneeled near him and spoke softly.

"My observation notes on twin hippopotami's cousin." Doctor Ro answered naturally without even holding back.

Chin Hae snorted at the response. Would it kill Uncle Ro call us by the name or as twins? Why so obsessed with that damned mammal. "One of the so-called hippopotami is standing right here. For heaven's sake, can't you change the nickname to something little nice?"

"How about a whale? It doesn't suit you both though. Maybe based on the size, yes it fits. But Hippo suits more. They are aggressive, dangerous like you both but whales are nice. Not at all like you both." Doctor Ro started his crazy yapping.

Chin Hae's shoulder dropped in defeat. "Forget it. I am used to a hippopotamus. Don't want to get used to another new name."

Baby-doll was done with the banter between two man-children by her side. So she decided to divert the topic before they pick something to fight on or worse blather on about anything but significant. "Why are you reading your observation notes in such a position?"

Doctor Ro looked at his favourite niece as if she has gone stupid by spending more time with the aggressive hippos. "So that I get a new perspective! Old one worries me."

A soft laugh came from baby-doll. "Just because the old one does not comply with your expectations, you can't change it. I am not a doctor, but I am pretty sure that's not how medicine works. Come on… It is time to behave like the amazing doctor that you are."

With that, she helped Doctor Ro to get up and sit properly for the conversation.

The old man decided to sit on the rug rather than the expensive leather couch. Both the youngsters decided to follow him and settle themselves on the Persian rug.

"It is not a medical issue I am worried about. It is..." Doctor Ro had difficulty in continuing the words. He looked down, contemplating.

"What happened Doctor Ro?" Chin Hae asked anxiously.

The pen on doctor Ro's hand hit Chin Hae's head quite hard instantly. "It is crazy doctor, not doctor Ro."

He huffed like a child throwing a tantrum.

"If you say that you planned to give me a concussion with a pen, then congratulations. You almost succeeded." Chin Hae huffed out a breath in annoyance. Even though he sounded irritated, in reality, he couldn't see the always-smiling-wise-old-silly-man to look all gloomy.

Doctor Ro grunted at the boy in front of him. "If that's what I want, I am pretty sure I would be successful, you over-thinking hippopotamus."

Doctor Ro looked at his dairy. He had always been old school went it comes to his research and patients, still keeping a journal and revising it every once in a while. He fell silent as he fiddled with the bookmarker as if it was the most exciting creation in the research world.

Suddenly he raised his eyes and looked at Chin Hae with blank cold eyes.

"How bad was your blasted family towards that poor kid?"
