Indeed Rayven was not her son. Traute only helped carry and deliver him to this world. She was just a surrogate ordered by the Madam to safely birth another Enigma she had painstakingly tried to add to their forces.
But even if she respected Ryley as Madam Gilbert's other nephew, or that she shouldn't have any bias towards either of Ryley and Rayven, Traute had to admit that she had a unique bond with the boy. She was always more protective of him.
All those fake hormone therapy appointments Rayven had been doing ever since he was a child... Everything was arranged so that Rayven could be what he was born to be. Traute had always been there for him, training Rayven and molding him into what he was today.
Aside from being the surrogate, maybe this too was what made her grow fond of Rayven more than Ryley.
