Ryley could feel his heart drop to his stomach when he heard his mother's answer. The landline almost slipped from his grasp as he was unprepared for such an appalling news.
"Mom, c-can you pass the phone to him? It seems there's a misunderstanding. Let me talk to him for a while." He said, his fist clenched tightly as he tried to hold back his anger and keep his composure at the same time.
Despite the panic that was clearly reflected on his erratic eye movement, Ryley restrained himself from cursing and yelling at the phone.
It was hard to remain calm, but he didn't want to make the two people in front of him worried, especially Kimberly.
