Without a moment's hesitation, Jules propelled himself forward, the horror etched vividly in his eyes as he bellowed, "Help...!"
"Jules..." Alex's voice trembled amidst the growing pool of blood beneath his head. "I know I don't have the right to ask for forgiveness... and I can't thank you enough for raising Gabriel as your own... but..."
Jules cut him off sharply, a mixture of anger and sorrow welling up within him. "Shut up and don't tell me that crap!" Tears brimmed in his eyes as he frantically dialed 911 for help. "You haven't even apologized to Gabriel for abandoning him!"
"No... listen to me..." Alex pleaded, his voice trembling as he summoned his last ounces of strength to clutch Jules' wrist.
