Medea hurried after Ryley, her footsteps echoing in the dimly lit corridor as she caught up with him just outside the morgue. Her voice trembled slightly as she called him. "Ryley, wait!"
The blond turned to her, his expression unyielding. "What is it?"
The tension in the air was palpable as Medea hesitated for a moment before broaching the sensitive topic. "How do you plan to kill those Purebloods?"
A sinister smile crept onto Ryley's face as he stared at the rapidly healing stitches on his chest. "What other option do I have?" He pointed to the scars. "You've injected a deadly poison into my heart. Why waste it?"
Ryley's calm demeanor and reassuring smile belied the storm of emotions swirling within him. He gently removed Medea's hand from his arm, his touch feigning pity as he cupped her cheek.
"Auntie," he spoke softly, his eyes locking with hers, "you don't need to worry about me."
