Chapter 16 - A date to the Gala - IV

"I firmly believe in mental awareness, especially amongst children from the very beginning. It always starts from there." Grace talked to the woman who was very interested in what she was talking about.
"I love your opinion," she ghussed. "It is very necessary that schools pay equal attention to it. It's not just the responsibility of the parents!"
"I agree," Grace replied with a Bob of her head. She felt an arm circle around her waist and immediately looked around to see Miguel standing there.
"Excuse us Mrs Paltrow," Miguel gave her a professional smile.
"Oh, no, no, don't mind me." Mrs. Paltrow grinned, "Enjoy the night."
Just as Mr Vega turned around greys so the saucy wink Mrs Paltrow sent her way making her eyes widen. What the hell?
She turned around to walk side by side with her boss whose arm remained on her side.
"Has it been too overwhelming for you?" He asked and she shook head. It had been but she could not just agree to it. It was her decision after all to come with him.
Grace nudged him closer. "Do you know when the dinner is? Usually they would serve snacks but they are not feeding tonight." She grumbled, making him dip his head so that no one would see the smile.
"Anyway," he cleared his throat, "we are waiting for the family that has hosted this Gala. He is a friend of mine."
Grace's eyebrows furrowed. She had completely forgotten to check that detail and had clearly focused on what to wear. No matter what does she could not just ask Mr. Vega who it was.
"There they are," Miguel angled them to the entrance so that she could see, "The Miller's."
Miller.
The first to enter was Adrian Miller and right after him was his father; James Miller.
The Millers were here.
Alejandro Vega joined them and this time she gave Grace a polite nod before turning back to his brother. "Marianna is here."
Who? Grace looked at Miguel to see him with his jaw clenched. "What?" He spat. "With who?"
"Him," Alejandro raised his chin and both of them turned around to see Mariana Vega walk in with Christan.
Christian Miller.
"Him?" Miguel spat and Grace tightened his hold on him slightly. He looked over to her.
"Perhaps not the right time." She whispered to him. If Mr Vega decided to create a scene here not only would be embarrassing for his sister but it would be embarrassing for him too. Also at these events there were people who were ready to sell a story.
Without replying he looked to where his sister and her beau for tonight were. "It fucking irritates me more to know that my friend is with my sister." He hissed, mindful of the volume.
Friend? Mr. Vega was friends with Christan?
She stared at the man in question. Christian and Marianna were making their way to them and before long they stood in front of them.
"Christian?" Miguel questioned before crossing his arms but placing them back down when Grace tapped at them. That posture reeked of attitude and not something that was to be done at a Gala.
Christian glanced at Marianna. "I found her at the airport. She missed her flight and I was flying back from Chicago."
Miguel stared at his sister who looked anywhere but him. "And you brought her here?"
Christian's left brow shot up. He glanced at Mariana before moving his eyes to Miguel. "That is something your sister can answer for you. She told me that she was needed here and I could give her a ride."
Oops, Grace tucked her lips in. That was bad.
