The boatman dropped Theodora and Gerald at their destination- one of the smallest islands in the archipelago.
"¡Cuídate mi niño! ¡¡Que ambos permanezcan juntos a través del juego del tiempo!! (Take care my child! May you both remain together through the play of time!!)" The man prayed wholeheartedly.
Gerald only stared back at him without any hint of gratitude on his face as he didn't understand a single word the man said.
But Theodora smiled back gratefully. "¡Muchas gracias, señor! Rezo por tu larga y saludable vida!! ¡Adiós! (Thank you very much, mister! I pray for your long and healthy life!! Goodbye!)"
She waved at the man as he turned his boat around, leaving them there. She was smiling brightly, and Gerald wondered how the woman who couldn't get along well with her own parents could befriend strangers like that.
