As Gerald sat beside Reznor in a comfortable silence between their conversation, he couldn't help but ask him.
"Reznor, you mentioned something about your love life. What happened?"
Gerald didn't know why he was so interested in getting to know the dark wizard's love life or why he thought the man would say anything to him.
But after a minute of silence, when he was about to give up on that thought, he heard Reznor's distant voice fall on his ears. He sounded as if he was lost in his own world, leaving this realm behind.
"Cara! Her name was Cara. My beautiful Cara!"
Gerald would have made fun of the longing in Reznor's voice or teased him to no end if they were having this conversation in some other circumstances. But right now, Gerald knew what the longing meant and how it felt.
So he remained silent, listening to Reznor attentively.
