Bertha was pacing back and forth in worry as they were already very late. Only she knew how she had spent the entire day without any information on Gerald and Theodora.
The old coachman tried encouraging her, but that didn't help her much. He kept asking her to sit inside the carriage as it was not safe for her to stay out in the forest route in the evening.
But Bertha refused to listen to him, and after a point, the poor man gave up.
Bertha's attention shifted to her right when she heard some sounds. Her face brighten up as bright as a hundred lamps lit up together as she ran to meet Theodora and Gerald mid-way.
She didn't realise when she pulled Theodora into a hug. The corners of her eyes were already moist as her lips moved, chanting prayers and thanking God for keeping Theodora safe.
"Thank God, you are safe My Lady!" She whispered.
