The hours of the day shorter in the North in most instances, they passed agonizingly slowly for Cassius. Noting each leisurely minute that crept by without the return of his Mate, he had painstakingly tracked the diminishing light within the banquet hall. Watching its slow crawl across the floor onto the wall, he found it did nothing to reassure him of Aribelle's safe arrival. Instead Cassius's obsession over its inevitable course since her leaving, had only served to supply his internal demons with more fodder with which to justify their possessiveness and longing over her. The long passing of time he had encountered there afterwards, caused Cassius to regret not protesting her departure more avidly now.
