Chapter 28 - Life Is Unfair

"The hell?! Reagan didn't know that you had already got married? What the hell, Lilly!?"

Tiffany shook her head as she gave her a look full of disdain. She never felt so small in her life. She was expecting her friends to be angry at her because she kept them out of the loop of what happened in her life. But it never occurred to her that they would get mad as if she was a bitch to think that marrying a total stranger like Matthew Grayson was a huge blessing and she's ungrateful for even complaining.

She heaved a deep sigh to stop the tears that were pooling at the corner of her eyes.

"I'm going to talk to Reagan tomorrow," she said in a squeaky voice like a mouse caught in the corner by a tomcat. She was feeling guilty because she didn't think of informing Reagan about her marriage since they weren't really in a romantic relationship. Besides, she was too stressed and had so many other things to consider than telling Reagan that they should break up because she was going to marry another man.

"I think you should talk to Reagan. Even if he wasn't really your boyfriend, he's good to you and he deserved to know what happened." Susan told her after being so quiet and not joining her spat with Tiffany.

"I will. And girls, I'm truly sorry that—"

"Susan was having a real problem, Lilly. Don't be so selfish and make everything about you." Tiffany rolled her eyes at her.

She opened her mouth to speak only to close it in incredulity. She could not grasp the reason why Tiffany was just too angry at her at a level that was borderline unreasonable. She must still be angry at her because of her jealousy.

However, the issue of her jealousy wasn't really an issue because she didn't do anything to be the receiving end of her anger. She didn't do anything with Andrei. She just talked to the guy for Pete's sake!

Her disbelief was slowly changing into resentment towards Tiffany. Not only that she was making her feel so bad of even complaining about being married to Matthew. Not only that she had made her feel like a wench for even complaining, but she was also unreasonably annoyed at her for no apparent reason when she did nothing wrong!

Her eyes shifted to Susan who was still in utter shock and to Tiffany who was giving her a look of contempt. Feeling unwelcome and wrongly judged, she got up from her chair and in an icy tone said goodbye.

"Look at her being so haughty!" She faced Susan and pointed at Lilly's back who marched out of the balcony and left

"Unbelievable! She married my crush!" Her voice cracked. "I mean, Matthew Grayson?" Her eyes were as big as a dinner plate.

"Yes! She married Matthew without informing us and now she came here, complaining as if her life just fell apart when it was the exact opposite! The audacity!" She got up from her chair in anger. Why Lilly is getting everything that she wants for herself?

"Life is so freaking unfair!" She snapped, pacing.

Susan absentmindedly nod and muttered under her breath. "Yes, truly. I was the one who had a crush on Matthew and Lilly was the one who ended up marrying him."

"And she lied to you about it! She made you a fool, gushing over your crush when she knew all along that she was going to marry Matthew!" She slammed her palm on the table and startled Susan.

"She must be laughing to herself, watching you acting like a silly girl over Matthew! Huh!... I never thought Lilly has it in her!"

Susan who finally got over her shock grinned at Tiffany. "Do you think we can visit Lilly?"

Tiffany furrowed her brows and glared at Susan. "Why would we do that? Are you blind? Didn't you see what did Lilly do just a few minutes ago? She stormed out just because we called her out of her bitchiness!"

"You were the one who called her out. You were being too much, just so you know." She said her last statement in a soft tone of voice. Not wanting Tiffany to throw another tantrum.

Tiffany gritted her teeth and squinted her eyes on Susan. "You are unbelievable!" She threw her hands in the air with frustration. "Lilly treated you like a joke and all you think about was the possibility of meeting Matthew? Seriously, Sue? Do you ever think?" She threw a string of questions full of mockery over Susan who has stars in her eyes with the prospect of meeting her stupid crush.

"Well…" she shrugged her shoulder nonchalantly. "Lilly said that it wasn't her choice. It was an arranged marriage after all."

"Uggh!" Tiffany pulled her hair in frustration. She was royally pissed! Lilly is such an annoying part of her life! She had to do something about her.

"Sue, I think you should head home now. Your siblings need you and whether you like it or not, you have to face your parents and talk about the arrangement that they are proposing in regards to their divorce. You can't hide here forever!"

Susan's excitement over the idea of meeting Matthew was depleted like a balloon that lost air when Tiffany reminded her of her parent's divorce. She was trying to forget about it, ignoring the fact that her family was falling apart by acting silly over a crush.

She got up from her chair and exhaled a deep breath. "Thanks for letting me stay," she said before going in.

"Don't forget your stuff because I'll ask the maid to clean my room before I leave for college!" She called after Susan.

When she was left alone on the balcony, her anger returned. She pulled her phone and was about to dial Andrei's number when a thought came to mind. She scrolled her contacts and slow down when she reached the letter R.
