Chapter 5 - Rumors And Lies

Since Tiffany brought her car and started driving on her own, they all piled up in her tiny sports car that she got as her birthday present two months ago. When Tiffany got a car, she also wanted one and was thinking of asking her father, but then, her ass is lazy. Having Pete driving her around is still the best.

Just like usual, Susan took the backseat and she got the passenger seat. She had no idea if Tiffany had an understanding with Sue that she should be at the backseat for she didn't really mind sitting at the back than in the passenger but Susan would always climb at the back as if it's her place.

She sighed. It must be the anxiety of having her social status in turmoil that makes her sensitive to this kind of thing. For in the past, she also didn't really care but she would probably feel insulted if someone would ask her to stay in the back.

"Lill, did you already call the restaurant?" Tiffany asked with her eyes glued in the road.

"Not yet but I think…" she stammered a little. She wondered if the restaurant knew about their family predicament and would refuse to give them a table from now on.

"Oh! How silly of me to ask!" Tiffany laughed in her shrill laugh. "Of course, you don't have to call the restaurant. Like duh?" She moved her head to the side as she laughed once again.

She smiled at her and checked on Susan in the backseat. She had her eyes on her phone and seemed to be not listening to the conversation between her and Tiffany. A small voice in her head whispered that Tiffany appeared to know something or maybe it was just her guilt because she had been lying to them.

She copied what Susan was doing and got busy on her phone as well to avoid talking to Tiffany. She checked the account that Susan showed her as Matthew's IG. And she had to agree that he's hot. His sharp jawline gives off a strong authoritarian look, his brooding dark eyes are like a pair of laser judging the other person, especially since his lips were perpetually pulled into a thin line. But at the store a while ago, when Matthew laughed, she saw that his eyes danced in amusement and those dark orbs of him lighten up and his lips were so inviting…

She shook her head in disgust. Why in the world is she thinking of Matthew's lips as inviting. Inviting for what, she grimaced inwardly. She wasn't sure if it was because she's now of legal age—the age that she and her mother agreed that she could involve in sexual activity. Her mother made her promise that she can't involve in any sexual activity until she's eighteen. It was a huge issue between the two of them since her friends had already lost their virginity at sixteen! Because her mother was adamant about her keeping her virginity until she was of legal age, they ended up having an awkward conversation with her father. Imagine talking about your sexual life or the lack of it in front of your own father!

Yes, she's liberated but there are things but she still doesn't want to talk in the open. Tiffany and Susan teased her mercilessly about it in the past, even calling her a frigid and an old maid.

"I'll park first. You two go ahead."

Her thoughts were pulled back to the present with what Tiffany said. Her mind was flying that she didn't notice that they had arrived.

They went out of the car and headed to the restaurant without complaint since they both know that Tiffany doesn't trust anybody to drive her car. The only person she allows to drive her car other than her is her boyfriend.

Lilly held her breath when the restaurant receptionist asked them if they had a reservation and she exhaled a relieved sigh when the young woman smiled apologetically when she saw her.

"Miss Morgan, this way, please. Your usual table is free at this time."

"Thank you," she murmured.

"Oh, wait, you go ahead. I'll go to the bathroom first."

Her confused gaze followed Susan who was fleeing to the bathroom. Why is she apologetic about going to the bathroom? She scoffed and shrugged her shoulders. Her friends can be so weird sometimes.

"I'm right here, Miss when you're ready to order."

She nodded as she busied herself with her phone. She didn't need to see the menu since they always eat here and know the menu by heart. She just has to wait for Tiffany and Susan for they will banter on what to eat that won't ruin their diet.

While she was busy checking Matthew's photo, Tiffany and Susan are on a call.

"I told you, they let us in like usual." She blew an exasperated sigh. Even since this morning, Tiffany had been telling her to observe Lilly because of some rumor that she heard about Lilly's family business. "I mean, we went shopping at their store for free!...as usual, and now, we are here at the usual restaurant…Tiff, this is a bit—"

"What? I told you, we are doing this because I don't like being lied to! If there is no indication of what I've heard…then, Lilly must be lying to us!"

"Or, the rumor that you'd heard was just like that. A rumor!"

"Shut up! My connections are never wrong! I'm going in now. Don't act too obvious!"

When Tiffany dropped the call, Susan stuck her tongue out at her phone. Tiffany was being so annoying but then when wasn't she? She flushed the toilet even when she didn't use it. When she returned to their table, Tiffany was already ordering more than usual. She rolled her eyes inwardly. She told her not to be so obvious but then what was she doing, ordering food that she doesn't normally eat!

When it was time to pay for the food that Tiffany ordered but barely ate, she smirked at her when Lilly was called by the restaurant manager to talk privately.

"I told you," Tiffany hissed at her.

Susan sighed and rolled her eyes at the other girl. "Fine. You may be right!"

Tiffany scoffed. "Prepare your card because you'll be paying all of this!" She said with a sneer.
