WAYLEN'S POV
When I grasped for a breath of air, icy-cold water flooded inside me. My throat burned as if a thousand needles had been plunged into it but I didn't have the time to nurse my burning throat or the gaping hole in my abdomen. I didn't have time for any of this because my little boy was lost at sea and my baby girl was screaming her lungs out, her screams echoed.
It echoed so loud that it was permanently etched at the back of my mind, like eternity could pass and I would still hear the terror in her voice, the sorrow and a dash of unrequited hope in her cries.
