The building was going to blow up and her friends hadn't returned yet. She was praying continuously for their safe return.
Just then, Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Miller both got into the van. And along with them, the driver who was with Mrs. Miller earlier also got in.
"Drive." Mr. Rogers said to the driver as soon as the driver was seated.
"No!"
"My friends, they haven't come back. We need to wait for them." Merry said in desperation.
"There's no waiting for anyone. I already told you kids to not go back inside the building. You didn't listen to me, now face the consequences." Mr. Rogers said angrily as if Merry's words reminded him of the loss he was suffering in his research project all over again.
"How can you say that? And how could you even think that we would leave Cole behind?" Merry asked Mr. Rogers accusingly.
