Chapter 8 - Sky

Princess Eleanor looked out. The night was getting darker as she bit her lips from time to time.

She needed Sir Kit's help. Princess Eleanor knew that she cannot go into a foreign Empire without any backup. What if something happened to her there and she needed help.

Princess Eleanor did not trust her uncle's soldiers. She knew for a fact that they were all her Uncle's loyal servants. Someone who would not betray the King.

'Should I ask for Duke Felix's help?' Princess Eleanor thought.

Duke Felix was her childhood friend. She knew that he would help her out. But there was a small thought that bugged her mind. Duke Felix was getting married soon to Princess Macy.

Even though her friend might want to help, but he cannot go against the King. Especially when he is soon going to be a son-in-law of the Angevin Kingdom.

'And Macy hates me because she thinks that something is going on between me and Felix. She will never allow Duke Felix to help me.'

Sometimes Princess Eleanor wishes Felix's father was still alive. He was the one who stood up for her after her parents' deaths.

Princess Eleanor also thought that the death of the Duke Sr. was also due to the King's interference.

'Did Felix agree to marry because he wants to find his father's killers too?' Princess Eleanor closed her eyes as she took a few deep breaths.

A laugh left Princess Eleanor's mouth, "We both are on the same boat."

Princess Eleanor looked around her home. Lady Gisella's words rotated in her mind.

"The one that will reveal the true ruler

Will not belong to the empire

The consequences of it will be a crown fire

If the chosen one does not desire."

Princess Eleanor bit her lips as she was in deep thoughts. She knew that there was some meaning hidden in the prophecy.

"Priest Erasmus is a very well-known priest." Princess Eleanor's lips curled up a little. He knew that he was a man that was valued besides God himself. His words were taken up as God's himself.

The flash of the pendant came into Princess Eleanor's mind. Her eyes narrowed as she thought of the reason why she would think that Sir Kit would be a key person to find the real culprit.

Princess Eleanor knew that a part of the prophecy said that the Princess needed to be willing to enter the Empire. But she knew that her heart was in chaos.

But now that she had seen a ray of hope, Princess Eleanor had made up her mind. She knew that she needed to go to the Empire as the remaining mystery was buried there.

Princess Eleanor knew that she needed to find all the culprits and have her revenge. A sudden thought popped up in her mind,

'If Duke Felix helps me to manage the situation here I will be able to find the clues at the Empire. I know that someone from there is the real culprit and I need to find them.'

Princess Eleanor swallowed. Entering the Empire was simple because of the prophecy but she knew that she would need help there. Any help that would tell her everything she needed to know and protect her along the way.

If people involved in the killing of her family really belonged to the Empire then there was a high chance that she too would be in danger soon.

There was still a chance that a person from the Empire had sent Sir Kit. but for some reason, Princess Eleanor shook the thought away. Although she did not know who this man was she felt like the knight would never betray her.

Princess Eleanor looked down at the pendant on her neck. A gift that her grandmother had given her. Her hands touched the pendant where the names of her family were engraved. Her father, mother, and brother's names were personally written by her.

Touching the necklace gave Princess Eleanor an unknown strength and courage. She felt like she could do this. She can go to the Empire and find the accomplice there.

Princess Eleanor knew that she would have Nia, her lady in waiting and best friend there but she needed a knight too and Sir Kit was the perfect one.

'I can get to know Sir Kit on our journey back.' Princess Eleanor thought as her lips curled up. 'I will make sure to make our bond strong so that nothing would break us apart. He would help me with his own will. Either because he feels sympathetic or because he truly feels my pain. One way or the other, Sir Kit will help me.'

Princess Eleanor swallowed. Although she knew what she wanted, there was a part of her that also knew that Sir Kit had time to think. She had asked him to give his answer in two days.

Princess Eleanor knew that she had already decided to go to the Empire and she would not tell Sir Kit. She wanted to know his answer first because she was desperate now. How could she willingly leave such a good opportunity from her hand? Even though she had to lie, Princess Eleanor was ready to do it.

"I need his help. I need him to be loyal to me." Princess Eleanor smiled as she thought about Sir Kit's expressionless face. Even though she could not see his face clearly, she knew that there were many emotions buried in them.

"I hope he says yes." Princess Eleanor thought. She closed her eyes as she lay on the bed. Her eyes looked outside at the sky.

Although she could not see the whole sky Princess Eleanor could see the twinkling star glowing in the darkness.

'The sky was so huge but we can only see a little portion of it.' Princess Eleanor took a deep breath. 'So what am I failing to see? What is everyone hiding from me?'

Princess Eleanor was silent. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around her room. Her eyes stayed on the door where she knew that a guard stood there to keep an eye on her.
