The scene seemed surreal to the young doctor, he nervously stood in place, allowing the Duke get overly close, despite being discomforted by it.
"Let's hear it again, what were you ladies talking about jumping fences?" The duke asked in a cheerful tone, smiling warmly at consort Meiying.
The woman hastily fell to her knees, "I was just cracking light jokes, it wasn't meant to offend anyone." The corners of her mouth shook while she addressed him.
Her maids in turn fell to their knees, their shoulders jerking uncontrollably in fear. The duke diverted his attention from them towards Mei Deng.
"Come let's go see uncle" He said, "afterwards let's have a drink. It is a happy occasion after all." The duke declared, walking forward first, leading Mei Deng away from both women.
"If you'll excuse me..." He folded his hands politely to both women before following the duke towards where he imagined would be the Emperor's quarters.
