The Emperor sat proudly on his throne, it was the first briefing of the new year, and as per the usual, his court was filled with officials he had only ever heard of.
He sighed, unsure whether it was a good or bad thing that these unscrupulous men knew to show their faces on the first day of court.
Things were running smoothly, until the Minister of War Hé Aiguo, brought up the matter of The War Of Winter. He had first raised the issue to boast of his ministry's achievement over the previous year.
However things took a bad turn, when the new Minister of finance, Zhào Susu, who was placed in position two years ago spoke up.
"Winning the war is one thing, but how will the accounts be balanced?" Zhao Susu boldly asked, striking the Minister of war at a sensitive spot.
"What nonsense! Which is more important? Money or life? If the battle wasn't won do you think you'd be able to come to court?" Hé Aiguo spat out, earning some support.
