After they left the fishing village, the two travelled a long distance seeking where to sleep that night. Mei Deng held up the map in his hands, squinting his eyes at the next village, which they should have reached at the time.
Da-Xia had since fallen asleep inside the carriage, and the Ox would sometimes lose its footing, due to tiredness. With such bleak odds, Mei Deng sighed and stopped the carriage.
"This area is desolate, and there are tall trees around too, we can't afford to rest for too long." He thought aloud, setting a camp fire, since it was too cold for Da-Xia inside the carriage.
He quietly reached for the child and hugged her to his chest, draping the red blanket over her. The child stirred and nestled her head into his embrace, seeking warmth.
