By the time Mei Deng arrived at the docks, the General's soldiers who were meant to make the escape were engaged in combat with some of the fishermen in the area. Fortunately, the fight didn't span for long, and the fishermen were tied up and left inside a canoe.
"Go with them and wait for me. I promise we'll see each other tomorrow." Yu Xiaoguang said softly to the child, lowering himself in front of the fishing boat.
Despite being dressed like fishermen, the General's soldiers stood out because of their well built biceps and intimidating aura.
"Bàba, what of lemon Gege?" The child clutched onto his sleeves, with a look of defiance in her round brown eyes.
The soldiers who were already pissed to have to wait on the most hated man in the camp, couldn't bear to watch the parting scene between father and daughter. If the general had not instructed them earlier to treat the child with care, they would've yanked her by her pigtails.
