*Capital Gates*
Two guards stationed at the capital's checkpoint were deeply engrossed in a mid-day nap, with about seven empty jars of liquor scattered abroad.
The men would never have woken up if a fly hadn't flown directly into the back of one's throat, through his open jaw.
*Cough*
He vigorously slapped his chest knocking over the half full jar on the table, fighting the insect which was somehow stuck in his throat. Due to all the ruckus he caused, he was able to awaken his companion.
And just in time too.
A commerical cart just arrived at the capital's gates about to leave. The stouter looking man who had facial hair sticking out of his chin and a round belly rushed to attend to them.
"Halt. Do you have a pass?" He demanded, straightening his drool stained uniform.
The man sitting in front of the cart pulled out a red pass from his sleeves and presented it to the guard.
"It looks old, how do I know this wasn't stolen? Don't you have anything newer?"
