*Some moments before*
Stepping into the room, the Empress could not help but notice the state of it's exterior. It had floral patterned curtains draped over the window, two white tea cups and a green dragon printed teapot. Sitting next to it, was a plate of freshly baked cakes with steam spiraling out of it. On the bed, she counted two thick blankets meant to shoulder the cold, which in reality defeated the entire purpose of being in the cold palace.
"The state of this room is just as lavishing as some of the lower consorts bedrooms. Isn't this too much for a dethroned consort?" The Empress asked not mincing words.
Gently descending the window, consort Xínyí tossed the book in hand on the nearest chair and pinched her chin. "Dethroned? Isn't that too presumptuous of the Empress?"
