"What happened after that?" Elias questioned. "Did you run away then?"
"No," William shook his head. "I couldn't go back to my room without being noticed, so I was bound to be caught which I was. My grandparents convinced my mother to send me away to Roma City to stay with some relatives."
He pulled the mesh hairnet from his head before running his hand through his black hair. "I stayed there for a few weeks, then I came back to England for my big sister's funeral."
William frowned as he focused his gaze on the ground, reminiscing on the day of his sister's burial. "When I returned, I couldn't recognize anyone. No one was wearing a mask anymore; I could see their true faces."
"Hideous and vicious," William spat. "They were wearing pretty clothes but they still looked so ugly, wearing the hate they had for my sister like heavy makeup on their faces."
