Officer Harrington kicked his feet while angrily mumbling about the stupidity of his colleagues as he stormed down the dark path with the flashlight held firmly in his hand as his only companion.
"Those fucking idiotic assholes," he cursed. "I hope my fucking face will haunt them even in death." He laughed maniacally, "So they'd suffer for eternity wishing that they listened to me."
His laughter was abruptly interrupted when he fell face-first to the harsh ground after tripping over a tree root he was too busy laughing to have noticed.
A pained groan and harsh curses left his bruised, bleeding lips as he hoisted his body up with his gloved hands pressing painfully against the thorny thistles that lined his path.
Officer Harrington spat blood seeping from his severely injured mouth before looking around in the darkness. With his vision limited, his other senses heightened drastically and so did his fear that was earlier being silenced by his anger.
