Chapter 8 - The alchemist opportunity - I

The chance was literally in front of her, wide open to be received as an opportunity.

Hope blossomed in her chest and slowly, she came out of the paralysed state of fear before turning to the boy.

"They left the door open!" Victoria whispered to him ferociously, " we can get out. I can support you!"

His eyes moved to the door and he shook his head slowly, the fear reflected in his eyes for the first time and it was almost as if it was a different person in front of her.

Victoria glanced back at the door and crawled close to him patiently before settling on his side. "We can make it outside! You have to believe me. We can support each other!" She hissed.

Again, the boy showed his head and Victoria turned to look at the door.

She gulped.

There were two important factors in the room, the boy and the open door. She was a follower of the alchemist, the book in which they always talked about the universe sending signs.

Was this a ploy?

The opportunity of an open door out of this situation but the boy refusing to come out who was just as trapped as her? Could it be a sign from the universe that this was a plot against her?

But it could also be the sign where she was supposed to leave the boy and run out to escape herself. What if the boy was the anchor that was going to be the reason for her death?

Slowly, on trembling feet, she got up and moved towards the door. The boy did not say anything and she was grateful because there was no way she could handle the betrayal in his eyes. After all, she was going to leave him behind.

She kept her hand on the door frame before leaning forward and looking into the right direction the whole way where she had seen the people leave.

No one was there.

Slowly And very carefully, careful enough to not make a sound, she kept a foot out of the room.

No one came.

This time, she started to walk out of the room when she heard a huge bang making her jump up and turn into the direction of the voice.

She had been caught.

"Please!" The banging continued, "let me go!"

Victoria frowned. The sound was definitely familiar, was that Leah?

"My father will pay you whatever you want! At least, let me talk to him!"

Yup, it was definitely her.

She was in the room two doors down to the room she was sharing with the boy. Even her door was open.

Victoria leaned her head in the room first where Leah was in. If there was any one there, she was sure as hell leaving the rich kid inside.

It was only Leah, banging across the world because she was chained.

"Shh," Victoria shushed her. The amount of noise that she was making was definitely going to attract people.

"There," Leah pointed towards the corner of the room, near the door, "they keep their keys in the room."

The boy was in no state to escape with her. However, Leah looked fine. They could escape together.

Moving inside the room with record speed, Victoria jumped and snatched the keys from the handle before going over to her classmate and unlocking her change that were on her feet.

The moment the last chain was unlocked, Leah shot up like an arrow and ran out of the room.

She came back and Victoria looked at her hopefully before getting up but Leah stopped her, "why don't you go to the boy? I think we can help him out."

Her mouth parted and she complentated the suggestion. It was better to not betray anyone in this. If there were three and together, they could definitely get out.

"Okay," she whispered before getting out of the room and going over to the one she was sharing with the boy knowing that Leah was also following her.

"Hey," she waved to the boy, "we ar—"

The click of the lock halted her in mid-sentence. Startled and in a state of disbelief, Victoria turned around in the darkness to find her suspicions confirmed.

The door was locked. Leah had locked them inside.
