Chereads / Rebirth: Stubbornly Fufilling A Promise / Chapter 18 - CH. 18: Always That Obvious

Chapter 18 - CH. 18: Always That Obvious

"Is it you?"

Before Heather could speak after making a call, a loud voice interrupted her.

Her expression turned into a poker face one.

"Is it really you?"

-_-

"..."

"It is you, right? Oh my!!!"

She pushed the phone away from her ears when the excited voice on the other side, turned to shouting.

"Calm down brother," she called out as she opened the faucet on the sink of the bathroom.

"What's that?"

This instantly caught Aldger's attention.

"Well, we have an additional maid here who knew I am fully aware that she is left her as a spy. So, it is better to be careful than sorry," she explained.

She heard him laugh on the other side.

"That's quite an old school style of not letting others hear," he teased.

"I am in the home turf of the enemy, do you think I can simply install things here?"

Aldger continued laughing despite her explanation.

"..."

It took him another two minutes before he calmed down.

They were in the twentieth century that he found this hilarious.

"And? What are you calling about? You wouldn't risk such a thing if you don't deem it important."

Finally, he turned serious.

Heather sat on the rim of the bath tub.

"I need a double for our visit next weekend to mother and father."

Aldger sat straight in his chair, "Is someone threatening your life?"

Heather chuckled, "No but because Amanda is currently watching me closely, I can't just openly go and visit. I need a proper cover. At least for the time being."

"Do you need it from here on out?" he asked.

"No, just for next week end. After that I won't be able to visit again for a while."

Aldger's sharp brows furrowed, she had returned indeed but it felt like she hasn't yet.

"Are you really just going to greet all of us?" he sighed.

"I'm sorry brother. Surely you won't get old with me being like this. I am just bidding my time but everything will be out in the open, surely that will be the case in the future."

Her assurance didn't really assure him but it was enough for them to feel that she won't disappear on them again.

"I know I am being willful at this moment but please keep up with me for a bit more," her tone turned gentle.

Aldger knew that if he were seeing her at this moment, he would see an innocent look on her face that will make them dote on her even more.

"Fine," he relented.

A happy smile appeared on her lips after hearing his confirmation.

"You remember the tunnel on that long path? The one where the for is the moment you come out?" she started.

"You plan on switching places on that tunnel?"

"Yeah, that is the easiest place since signals are easily interrupted there. No matter what they do, as long as there are a lot of cars there, then they won't notice the exchange."

She knew there won't be a tracking device on her but she needed to be careful, once interruption happens then her giving her things to her double won't be a problem.

The phone she was using now was a different phone from what she was using during this time.

She asked Adam to buy her one before lunch a while ago.

It was the latest android phone at this moment, then she asked Wesley to tinker with it after they had their lunch.

It is now as secure as her laptop, but of course she won't let the witch aka her mother-in-law, Amanda or her spies to know of its existence.

"Okay, I will have her prepare. She can wear a thin mask as well in order to have your face not just your build. We can have her wear a voice changer that could be seen as a choker. That way she can move around freely, you plan on making her roam the mountain, right?" he said.

The mountain that they pass through before getting to the road towards their villa at the edge of their plantation was a well-known tourist spot.

The trees and flowers were of different variations and when one stops flowering because it was not on season, another will bloom.

In short, the place was pretty all year round.

There was also a viewing deck that was famous for its night view of the city lights way far and down below.

They were so small that they were twinkling like the stars on the land instead of the night sky.

Heather smiled, she knew he would be able to understand what she meant without her explaining so many things.

He and Hunter were twins but somehow the three of them could understand one another much better than their other siblings.

"Oh, I should probably start an IG account by now, then my arrival there wouldn't be too abrupt right?" she spoke after coming up with an idea for the cover she will have.

"You are not fond of social media accounts. With you only using it once, wouldn't that cause more suspicion instead?" Aldger rolled his eyes.

Thinking back, Aldger was right. Whether it was the Friendster of the past or the current social medias. Heather didn't have any of them.

But…

"Hey, since I started a change, isn't it a good one as well? I can put up different pictures here and there. Whether food or the weather or something so simple as an insect. Isn't that a good one?"

Aldger thought for a bit, "Well, I guess you are right but then will you really be able to keep up?"

Heather grinned even though Aldger could not see her.

In her first life, when things kept going down the hill, she became engrossed with IG. She started taking pictures here and there, no particular subject. As long as she felt like taking one's picture, she would take it.

In the end, she actually had a few hundreds of thousands of followers who came to like her pictures and the randomness it has.

Who would have thought that she would be able to use it now?

"Don't worry I am quite confident about this, I can continue doing it."

"If you say so, then I have nothing more to ask about. As long as you won't blow your cover up and end up being caught by the witch," he sighed.

"See you on Friday afternoon then," she bid him goodbye.

After the call ended, Aldger stared at his phone, whose screen already turned black, a doting smile appeared on his red lips.

"You seem to be in a good mood sir."

He looked up to see his secretary, who just came in.

"I am indeed," he replied putting his phone back to his pocket.

"How was it?" he asked afterwards turning into his business look.

"We found suitable lands on these particular countries. The next discussion will be with the planning department, the agricultural department and the industrial department. I have scheduled it tonight at 7 pm since you are full pack until 3 pm on Friday."

Aldger raised an eyebrow, "I didn't say anything about my after 3 on Friday."

His normal schedule was 7 pm, the dinners he had with his brothers.

Usually, he leaves at half past five.

His secretary, Frank Olivers, smiled back, "You have been talking about leaving early after you rechecked for this week's schedule last Saturday. Your last appointment will end at 3 in the afternoon. You only do that sir when you are excited about something and since you kept repeating that you will leave early. I can't have another schedule for you after that time or I will face a demon instead."

He looks normal but his words implied that Aldger had been reminding him not to create any schedules for him after his last meeting on Friday.

The raised eyebrow turned into a pout, "I am not that obvious."

Frank smiled again but no longer said anything, his smile was the answer.

'You are always that obvious.'

Aldger grumpily waved his hand, "Fine, fine whatever. We'll have the meeting tonight."

Frank nodded before leaving the office.

He was Aldger's most trusted person, without Aldger saying anything, he knew that the reason for him being excited and him having that doting look when he entered a while ago, was all because of his only sister.

Frank knew how to keep his mouth shut.

Aldger would usually announce the thing he was excited about but when he does not, it means that he can't do it.

But his excitement remained.

While Heather and her brothers were in happiness, Cyrus continued the same way as before, Amanda was the only one who was not having a great day at all.

Heather's sudden change caused her so much to worry about.

"What should I do?"

"…"

She sighed after listening to the person on the other side of the phone.

"I understand, I will watch for now."

With a sigh she massaged her temples.

Maya called her and told her of the encounter with Heather.

Amanda didn't expect that Heather has such strength, to think even Maya, who was the best in hacking under her, couldn't do anything.

That person was right, she can't rush it again.

She will watch for now.
