Chapter 20 - First Day of Work

Luna just let go of what he said. After what she had been through and he had done to her, it wasn't easy for her to trust him. A wry smile sprouted on her lips as a response to his words. Then, she got into the car directly.

The car swept the road toward Beijing General Hospital where Xiou Feng's sister was being hospitalized. Luna intended to see her before she went to the restaurant where she was going to apply for a job as a waitress.

Stepping outside of the car, Luna paved through the corridor of the enormous building. The people in white cloak crowded any spots she passed through and minded their business taking care of the patients.

Getting the information where Xiou Feng's sister was staying, Luna headed to the ward alone as she let the driver wait in the car.

Xiou Feng welcomed her in excitement as soon as the door slid open and Luna proceeded inside the ward.

A young girl who was lying on the bed shot her with a genuine smile. Her skinny body and tapering face indicated that she was in a serious illness. That short haired girl looked at her in happiness like she was the one she had waited for, for a long time.

"Thank you for coming, Ms Yang. This is my little sister; her name is Xiou Yu. Xiou Yu, this is a woman I have talked to you about."

"You are so beautiful." Her compliment was like dew that cooled her mind. She believed this little girl did say that honestly. A smile blossomed on her peach lips.

Luna ambled toward her bed and seated on the stool near the bedside. That little girl's face shifted closer to Luna. Her smile still lingered there.

"How do you feel now?" Luna asked attentively.

"I feel better. Thank you for your visit." Despite speaking in a weak tone, she tried to look cheerful. "My brother told me a lot about you." Luna was stunned listening to her sentence. To her knowledge, they were not the close for him to know much about her. Their first counter even gave her bad impression about him. It was his agony that changed her perception toward that young man. His story about her sick sister melted her heart. "You are an angle without wings."

"That's exaggerated." She chuckled.

"I mean it. If it isn't for you, I won't be here getting my medical treatment and…."

"You better take a rest." Luna cut her words off when she came to realize that talking too much could drain her energy.

"But, I am…."

"She is right, Xiou Yu. Have a rest." Xiou Feng's intruding words muted her mouth. Actually Luna wondered in her heart what sickness that girl suffered from but avoiding more sadness, she held her curiosity.

"I wish you a speedy recovery." She tapped her shoulder softly. That girl gave her a fragile nod. Luna could see that her coming generated a big impact on that girl. Her face radiated with joy.

"It's nice to meet you," she whispered.

With a heavy heart, Luna bid goodbye and strode out of the room. Dragging some steps away, Xiou Feng called her name. From his serious face, there was something he would like to convey. Luna stayed where she was.

"I...want to thank you once again for your kindness."

"Look! You have thanked me many times. I did nothing. It is grandma Li, the person you should thank."

"I know. But it is all because of you, you implored her to assist me. You know what? Madam Li even supports my sister's education. Not only does she get medical treatment but she will also get back to school soon after she recovers. Thank you so much, Miss. I owe you a lot. I don't know how to pay you for what you have done to me. I regret that I almost hurt you." Knowing that his sister was able to pursue her education filled her heart with happiness. Never did she think grandma Li would do that. That woman was truly kindhearted.

"Don't say that. I told you it is not me the one whom you have owed but it's grandma Li. You should be grateful to God as he has changed your life."

"Sure." His eyes were teary as Luna's words had touched him.

"Hey! Why are you in tears?"

"I am sorry…"

"I have forgotten about the incident."

"It is not only about the incident." Luna tilted her head in question. "To be honest, When I saw you for the first time, I felt disgusted. In my eyes you looked so ugly. The stupid me couldn't even behold your true beauty. Now I can see clearly that you are gorgeous. And it is your pure heart what makes you beautiful. And you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life." Luna only gigled hearing his confession, thinking that his praise didn't fit her. Besides, it was normal to help each othe as a human being.

"That sounds too much."

"No it is not."

"Well, I am getting late. I have to go." she swivleed around and meandered out if the building.

Buckling up in her seat in the car, the driver carried her to her destination. Due to being located in the outskirt area, it took a longer time for her to get to the place.

Unlike her imagination, the restaurant was small with a couple of tables and chairs. There were only one visitor or two inside. She became doubtful that this restaurant needed a servant. Nevertheless, she walked into the restaurant.

She was astounded with the fact the owners of the restaurants were an old man and his wife. How could they made an advertisement on the website? A young girl who just entered answered her unspoken query. She introduced herself as a grand daughter of the owners.

They treated Luna genially and nicely. Their friendliness warmed her heart. She was sure now that her decision to work here was the best choice.

"When can I start working here?" Luna asked enthusiastically.

"What about today?" The young girl named Huanran excitedly responded.

"Really?"

"Of course. Our restaurant will receive many food orders during lunch time."

"Orders?"

"Yes. And your duty is to deliver the food to the customers. You can ride a motor bike, can't you?" Even though it wasn't stated in the ads that she would work as food delivery person, but she had to do whatever the job offered to her. She agreed.

In an hour, Luna had been busy with her work, preparing the food after cleaning the tables. They also asked her to mop the floor, something that made her wonder what her main job was actually, a waitress, a janitor or a food delivery person. But, he silently did the things as she was in need of the job. It was her first day, her protest might effect their judgment toward her performance.

"Ms. Yang, now deliver this food to this adress." Washing her hands from the dirts, Luna picked the paper with the address on it. Her hands were shaking; her eyes bowled out in surprise to read the adress. It was grandma Li's company.

Isn't it Li Enterprise office in the city center, which is far from here? Why did its employee order the food in this small restaurant in remote place?

Huanran's voice brought her back to reality.

"Yeah...I'll do it right away. but I am just wondering why Li Enterprise's employee orders food in our restaurant instead of in the restaurant nearby. I am sorry I don't mean to…"

" He has been our customer before he worked in that company."
