The clock struck twelve, and Yasmin yawned widely. She waited for Declan, even though he asked her not to wait for him. She was exhausted and struggled to keep her eyes open. After putting her books on the shelves, she went to bed and fell asleep soon.
Declan arrived half an hour later. He was tired too. When he saw her sleeping, he felt contented. In his tense and stressful world, she was worry-free, and he didn't want the complexities around him to ever touch her. He wished she was always happy.
After freshening up, he clambered onto the bed and slipped into the blanket, hugging her.
"Mm…" She nestled into his arms. "You are back."
"Did I wake you up?"
"It's okay. I wanted to fall asleep in your arms."
Declan smiled and placed a kiss on her head.
"Why are you so late?"
"Work… There are some issues in the office."
