It was past nine. Nicholas had fallen fast asleep.
Julia set the storybook down and kissed his brow softly, murmuring, "Good night."
She checked the time again and pondered why Alexander had not yet returned. She wanted to meet him before leaving.
'I will wait for another half hour,' she thought.
She ran her fingers through his hair; her mind was flooded with worries. She couldn't stop thinking about where Alexander was.
'Is he still working at the office? Did he go somewhere? He is not plotting anything against Declan, is he? Why hasn't he returned yet?'
She breathed out a sigh.
'Forget it. I'd better leave. Mom will be worried about me.'
She lowered her head and placed another kiss on his forehead. She didn't notice the tall figure entering.
Alexander yanked on her arm and drew her to his chest. His sudden action caught her by surprise.
She was terrified about who was violating her.
