Grayson sat perched on the roof outside of Cora's window as the gray faded into the dull black of night.
She didn't know that he was there. No one did. But after that afternoon and with the leaders of the other eight realms soon to arrive, he couldn't shake the intense responsibility that had overcome him for protecting her life.
She was too fragile. It wasn't fair. The life that he had come to appreciate could be taken away so easily. Literally anything could happen.
Cora could slip and fall on a wet floor. She could get a virus. She could be assaulted by his brother when he wasn't around. There were probably billions of different ways that she could get hurt and die, and then that charming pink blush of her cheeks and those vivid blue-green eyes would be gone forever.
