In the dungeon, Graeme and August found Penelope and Zagan huddled over a man in a white lab coat.
"This is Peter White," Zagan said, nudging the man with his shoe. "Head researcher at Eliade apparently."
"I made a mistake," Penelope told them, the nervous guilt of having brought an outsider onto the pack land all over her expression. "I mentioned something about lycans. I mean, he showed us the DNA, but I said who it belonged to. I can't believe I did that."
"And I hit him," Zagan shrugged. "So it was leave him there or bring him with us for interrogation."
"They had lycan DNA?" August asked.
"Yes, they are definitely working with the other packs. But I wanted to speak with you, August. Because we discovered who their alyko is, and I think we can avoid any kind of fighting at all if we bring her here. Or if we bring you there…"
The man on the floor began laughing, a slow ominous laugh. "You think so, Pen?"
