Chapter 58 - Intensity

"Cora is in so much more danger than I thought," Penelope croaked. 

If Ambrosia saw Cora as having a mate—someone with the potential to do the impossible by both birthing new vampires and killing the old with her half-fae abilities, she would not allow her to live. She would kill her while she still had the chance, regardless of the power she imagined Cora could bring her. 

Because if it was too much—if it was a power that would threaten Ambrosia's status, then it had to go… unless there was another way Ambrosia could see to control her. But that would mean Cora would always be in a cage. She would be forced to either overthrow the Queen or be used as her puppet. 

"I don't see a way through any of this," Penelope said nervously. And then her eyes lifted to the vampire in accusation. "Why are you helping us?"
