He turned his head to glare at his foolish son, he has long warned that idiot, not to let his emotions get the best of him. After all, he was the main consort of the Dragon Queen, as long as his eyes were set on the goal, he wouldn't have to worry about those pesky emotions of his—— the plan that his son came up with was nothing but madness! Now they were done for, did those idiots really think that Brianna, the Queen who killed her father at the age of sixteen and took over this throne wouldn't be able to find out what nasty deals they were trying to pull behind her?
Yakov didn't once look in the direction of his father, his eyes were locked on Brianna who was looking down at them with a gaze so cold that he never thought she was capable of, in fact even if he was seeing it with his own eyes he still wasn't able to believe it, Brianna—— Bree, she was looking at him like that? When did her eyes become so cold?
Brianna didn't glance at them for long, she turned her head and calmly smiled at the shocked faces of her ministers. Though some looked a bit happy, hmm was it because they were loyal to her or they had something in their mind? Bree didn't have the time to ponder over the reason as to why those ministers were grinning from ear to ear. She placed her head back down on the armrest of her throne and continued from where she left, " When you are at the top of the social ladder there are many things that you have to worry about, like getting betrayed" her eyes raked over the section of ministers that was has been trying their best to create a fracas, the faces of the ministers turned pallid as they slowly tried to retreat in the shadows.
" Or to be killed while you are asleep." This time her gaze softly landed on her mates, though she understood their reasoning and could visualise how they might have felt when the Dragon Queen betrayed them but there was no need for them to kill her. They could have always renounced their claims and walked away, murdering someone so coldly, that was no solution, was it?
This time neither of the consorts looked up and Bree's lips curled in an evil smile. Of course, they weren't going, if they were to look up —— they will be the prime suspect of plotting to kill the Queen that was a charge that couldn't be taken lightly. Never mind though she didn't need them to admit their wrongs, she was the Queen, wasn't she? So, whatever she said was right!
After all, she was the ruler of this realm! Who will dare to refute her?

She blanked her face that was often shown on the pages of the book she has read and tried to channel her inner non-existent warrior though she was no ruler and no dragon shifter but a simple office worker, she wasn't going to let anyone put an end to this second chance that she has gotten! " That's why I decided to do a simple test and see for myself if those who claim to be loyal to me were really loyal to me or not and as for those who claimed to love me, whether they had me in their heart."
She leaned back on her throne and leaned her face against her left knuckle. " Very intriguing things, I have found out. From finding out a bunch of traitors to a very interesting plot of murdering me in my sleep, and committing a coup d'état." She leaned forward and pleasantly chuckled. " I must say the surprises that I received were really fascinating, I must say." Then like an inky veil dropping on the glittering moon, her smile dropped and with a gaze that was sharper than the claw of the dragon, she stared at the crowd. " Now, who should I punish first?"
" Should I punish my ministers whom I haven't treated that badly and even gave you proper respect though you didn't deserve any of it, yet you went back beside my back or should I punish my beloved consorts who despite all the riches and comforts that I have provided, didn't bother to even visit me for two consecutive months." She alternatively rested her head on the back of her hand since she was afraid to twist her wrist, as she continued to look at the minister that has gone completely silent. Seeing that no one was willing to say anything, she raised her hand and motioned for her hidden guards who immediately melted out of the shadows at her signal.
She pointed at the traitorous group of ministers who have been trying to get her exiled illegitimate brother to take over the throne while she was incapable. The guards were loyal to the throne, with just one look from Bree, they got into action and immediately subdued the group of ministers who were trying to escape from their clutches.
" Your majesty, please forgive us!"

" We didn't do anything, your majesty!"
" You have wronged us, your majesty!"
Seeing that they were still clamouring, Bree jutted out her chin with an evil smirk etched on her face. " I say that you have wronged me, do you dare say go against my word? And didn't you submit a report a few days ago saying that I was ineligible to make any sane decisions? Then think of this like this the crazy Empress gave the order of your execution? What are you going to do about it? Aren't I already crazy, Marquis Tess?"
The crowd that has been causing a ruckus instantly quietened down, as they stared at the Dragon Queen who was unforgiving and relentless in pursuing the smallest grievance—— the group finally realised how it felt when one dropped an axe on one foot.
The shadow guards dragged the group away and Bree watched them do it silently. She didn't punish Marquis Tess and his supporters for any reason, it was indeed mentioned in the book that the Marquis was a loyal supporter of the previous king and he absolutely loathed Brianna because she took the throne from her father after murdering him.
To teach her a lesson, he tried to dethrone her just like she did to her father. If not for the love interests acting first, Marquis Tess would have made his move.
" Now, that we have settled that matter. Let's get on the next one" said Bree as she faintly glanced at the four mates who still refused to look at her, she smiled mockingly and shook her head. " I claimed my mates for I believed that they would be by my side through thick and thin, but reality has slapped me awake, that's why —- I, the Dragon Queen, Brianna Dragniere, hereby announce that I renounce my claim on my mates!"
