Chereads / Farewell My CEO Husband : I Named His Baby 'Revenge' / Chapter 7 - I Never Saw This Coming

Chapter 7 - I Never Saw This Coming

A very sickly-looking Henry went inside the room where Cynthia sat by her coffee table taking the last sip of her now cold coffee.

She looked at him from under her long eyelashes, wondering exactly when the butterflies that assaulted her stomach every time she saw him returned after years of no show, and wondering when she stopped feeling them towards her ex husband in the first place.

Henry was awestricken once more. The mental image of his ex-wife was that of a normal Cynthia, not this beautiful pregnant woman who wore a two-tone pleated deep V-neck long sleeves maxi maternity dress, she also wore a face that he missed on her so much.

She looked like the old Cynthia from their youth, and she looked like a new Cynthia he didn't know.

Henry was about to burst a vein, either in his heart or his head, "So you agreed to meet me this time,"

"...You blackmailed your way into my mansion, it suits you. Now speak quickly, I'm busy." She said in a disgusted tone.

Her ex smiled at her, but it looked more like he was showing her his fangs right before he explodes.

'You haven't seen anything yet,' she vowed mentally as her ex stood with the same provocative smile on his face, "I'm so happy to be able to entertain you... Now speak quickly and be on your way out," she snapped.

Cynthia was sure that his big ego was bound to nag at him even for a small bit after her multiple attempts at humiliating him, she was surprised when his strange smile went wider.

"How can I not feel a sense of accomplishment after the proud and mighty Mrs. Green has finally graced me with an audience," Henry's voice trembled at the end. He didn't notice that he used the wrong last name to refer to Cynthia.

Cynthia bit her tongue not knowing whether she should laugh or cry, "...Mrs. Green?" She exclaimed. "Are you talking about your mother, or perhaps you're talking about your new wife? Both of them are not here, and both of them do not concern me..."

For two seconds, Henry's eyes showed genuine fear the way they did when she would wake him up from his many nightmares. Then his face contorted as if he was about to scream, but he bit hard on his bottom lip instead and turned around as if looking for an escape, or as if looking for something to hit.

"Careful now," Cynthia warned him, her voice had a dangerous edge to it as her motherly instinct kicked in for the first time. She had the urge to throw the unstable-looking man outside and away from her pregnant belly. "I'd like to inform you that there are guards outside in case you didn't notice them while coming in, I'd also like to remind you that you are in the presence of a valuable pregnancy that I waited years for," she placed a protective hand on her womb.

Henry's eyes drifted down to her belly, the madman from a second ago was no more, his teary eyes shone with great despair. And seeing him like that, Cynthia felt like she was about to throw up for the first time ever since she got pregnant.

Henry sniffled then rubbed his nose, "Yes... a most valuable pregnancy... the one that could've changed our fate…" He was mumbling to himself by the end before he stopped talking altogether then he looked at her as if something possessed him, "I-is it a boy... or a girl?"

It was a question she was happy to answer, knowing very well what made him stutter when he asked about the gender, and knowing all too well how narrow-minded his stupid mother was. The baby's gender was extremely important to the Greens.

"Oh? I thought you'd never ask! Why It's a boy!" She smiled at him wickedly.

He wiped the sweat off his forehead then over and under his eyebrows, "Ha! A boy… my... my boy..."

*THUD!*

Cynthia stood up abruptly pushing the coffee table that was in front of her to the ground, the heavy thing crashed loudly, overshadowing the sound of the shattered coffee cup that scattered everywhere.

"REVENGE IS MINE! NOT YOURS!" Cynthia shouted as the door to her office busted open and security with the butler came running inside.

Cynthia's men were first panicking and trying to assess the situation, but they composed their features quickly in the presence of their pregnant boss who was glaring at them. The old butler was the first to break the heavy silence, his cold eyes were on her ex-husband.

"Ms. Evans, I'd like to remind you that you should be extra careful with your current blood pressure,"

Henry's eyes widened menacingly, "The fuc*'s wrong with her blood pressure?"

When the butler didn't answer him and continued to gaze coldly, Henry attacked the old man and grabbed him by the collar shaking him twice. The guards were between the two the next second, they had Henry's arms firmly locked behind his back as he was convulsing and shaking violently.

"CYNTHIA! IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU?!"

"Yes, something is wrong with her," The deep calm voice flowed into the big room, demanding attention from everyone present. When Cynthia laid eyes on George, her mouth fell open.

The man waltzed inside the office with nothing but a black towel wrapped around his lower half, it was almost loose over his alluring Adonis belt right below his 8 pack.

It was hardly the correct moment, but Cynthia couldn't help it. Her eyes glided greedily slow upwards over every single muscle, and if she was any less angry, she would've been fanning herself by now.

George's body was to die for.

Her eyes stopped a tad too long over his prominent Adam's apple, she didn't miss how he tilted his head to the back, giving her eyes the masculine show he knew she loved so much. When her green eyes found his blue ones beneath wet disheveled blond hair that was darker because of the water, he smiled painfully slow, his dimple making an entrance and joining the sexy party that George was all about at this moment.

He never broke eye contact with her.

"You are what's wrong with her, Green, so why don't you fuc* off already?"

Cynthia swallowed air, hard.

George took three long strides over to her.

'Oh no,' she thought.
