Ashton and Phoenix were sent back to the hospital by Ethan. Phoenix convinced Ethan that she had rested enough and wanted to accompany Ashton at the hospital.
Ethan doesn't have any qualms about it. He was desperate to go home and waited for Tiana to come home from work.
