Jiang Yue took a while to pick up the items. Li Hehua had also finished cleaning up the house and came to help with the harvest with a sickle. Liu Guixia and Xue Erfu came to help when they returned from town in the afternoon.
By the time the sun set, the one acre of soybeans had been harvested and bundled up so that they could be taken home.
Xue Dafu and Xue Erfu started picking the beans, each carrying a big load. Li Hehua and Liu Guixia also picked a small load each. There were still many bundles on the ground. Xue Dafu and the others would come back again, but Li Hehua and the others were going to start making dinner. Once they carried the bundles back, they wouldn't come back again.
The sickles were all placed in the basket on the back, and so was the bag of beans that Jiang Yue had picked up from the ground.
