Four years later...
Hiding behind a rock in the woods, a bit far away from the orphanage home, Hubert and Valeria where giggling at their mischievousness.
As days went to weeks and weeks to months and months to years, Hubert and Valeria grew so close to each other like leeches. Never wanting to be separated. They always ran away and hid themselves from new parents as days went by, not wanting to belong to anyone but themselves. Hubert grew to love her so much like the sister he never had but wished to have while Valeria loved him like an elder brother and looked up to him with pure fascination.
At first Valeria wanted parents but as they grew closer, she couldn't leave Hubert alone. Anywhere she went she wanted him to be by her side.
Her caretaker, Joycelyn, was happy at the bond the children shared but same wasn't said for the sisters and nun. They knew the bond could become toxic, in the sense that feelings would be felt by the opposite sex as they grew older and it would lead to another story they didn't want. But separating them was harder than expected. To Valeria, Hubert was like a drug to her, she was addicted and Hubert who was older than Valeria began to like her and wanted to spend his everyday with her. As for Valeria's bullies, Hubert was there for her.
"Hubert?"
"Yes Val." Val was his nickname for Valeria.
He gazed at her calmly. She stared into his grey eyes as she spoke.
"What if we find parents who agrees to adopt both of us?" Hubert frowned for a while.
"But aren't you satisfied with me?" He asked carefully as he watched her. She looked away in thought as she spoke.
"Don't you wanna leave this place? Don't you want to see the world out there?" He raised his eyebrows as he smiled at her.
"Of course I want to, I want to go around the world with you." He looked her in the eyes with so much affection she was not aware of. She grinned happily as she kept on speaking.
"Nun Areta is gonna be really angry with us Hubert, she's gonna scold us."
"Don't think about that Val, she already know we want to be adopted together so why then should she get mad at us?"
Hubert asked and smiled at the thought of the nun with horns burning in anger with smoke coming out of her ears and nose. Valeria smiled before taking a look to see if anyone was coming.
"Hubert let's get back before she gets really mad." He was sad at her suggestion.
"Let's stay here some more and enjoy nature, shall we?"
Valeria frowned for a while before she shrugged nonchalantly. Valeria never knew Hubert liked her but the nun and sisters knew, they were watching their every move cautiously like hawks. But Hubert had many plans up his sleeves, he took her naivety to his advantage to spend time with her alone.
