"But why, there's nothing inconvenient about this..." Mrs. Lucas trailed off when she saw the solemn look on Wendy's face.
She cleared her throat and looked a little more serious as she reprimanded Michael, "You rascal, you should have called home before coming back during meal time."
"Sorry, Grandma." Michael kept his head low. He did not dare look at Wendy in the eye. He did not know how to face Wendy. If he had known that Wendy was coming back to the mansion, he would not have come back. Because he knew his appearance would dampen Wendy's spirits. The only thing he could do now was to avoid disrupting Wendy's life.
Michael nodded towards Mrs. Lucas as he said, "I will come back again in the next few days to visit you. Take care, Grandma." Michael turned to leave.
