"Oh, I get it now," Wendy nodded, seeming to have understood what had gone down. Smiling, she said, "What you're saying is that Mr. Lucas was even willing to put his life on the line to protect me. Now that I know that, it does sound like a very touching story."
From her tone and the way she said it, Wendy appeared positively strange. The assistant was about to continue talking when Christian waved at him to shut him up.
