Black like obsidian, yet not. The texture was definitely glassy, and brittle- the surface, a vitreous luster, just like how it was found in obsidian. It made one wonder how the delicate yet mysterious carvings on its surface came into being.
Such an easily breakable material– why didn't it suffer any damage when the carver went about his job?
But, instinctively, Yang Jingshen knew this material wasn't obsidian, even though it looked like that. Just like how he knew that one couldn't decipher the circumstances involving the panel with simple human logic.
The stone -or whatever it was- felt cool to the touch as it laid on his outstretched palm, and when he gently rubbed the irregularly carved surface, it didn't give out a sharp or uneven feeling. The smoothness of the material seemed to be prevalent all over its body.
