Her mother was a weak-willed woman, whose days were spent slaving over household chores and working over at their family fields. Oh, don't forget the part about looking after the bunch of younger siblings, who were, after all, extra mouths that needed feeding.
Her grandmother was partial to her son -despite him being a destructive drunkard- and hated this granddaughter of hers, who, despite being the perfect child in everyone else's eyes, was a sore spot for her because, well, she was a girl. Like– she was the eldest child, but turned out to be a girl! What could a girl possibly do? Just an extra mouth to feed and a wasted investment that would only bring benefit to some outsiders one day!
