"I would like to spend the rest of my life with you," Melody said. She smiled when she saw Damian frozen by her words. "Was that too sudden? Or you didn't think I would ever say that?"
Damian took a moment to gather himself after her sudden confession and acceptance. He had known that he would have brought the ring he had prepared for this purpose but he was still okay with this. Now getting a yes from her was sure when he proposed. She has said she would wait so he would surprise her then too.
He stood up and walked around the table to where she sat and higher her from behind. He tenderly kissed her neck which made her shiver and had her eyes shut.
"Thank you," he said. She wouldn't understand the way he felt right now, how happy her words had made him. She was supposed to be the one surprised tonight but she had also surprised him. Luckily, there was still something else that would surprise her. "I love you."
