"What would you like to do to him?" She was asked. At first she thought he was some other person who would take advantage of her. No one had ever come to help her or her mother before so this only made her more cautious. But to her surprise, he only seemed to have his attention on her father who was now fuming for being interrupted and the pains that cursed through him.
"Do you want him dead?" The man asked again. He did not sound as though he was talking to a child. She was above ten, yes, but asking such a question to a child, he should have at least considered her age but he did not and still asked as bluntly as ever.
The man whom she later came to know as Smith fended off her father and had him thrown down on his back. A foot on his chest to hold him down and then casted an annoyed look at her for the delay. He looked like he had somewhere to go but she was only holding him back.
