Ebari had many reservations against Varya having to face Theron and whoever else he was bringing to the meeting. There was something about the tone of Theron's voice that made Ebari believe there was an ulterior motive or an aspect of this meeting that he was hiding.
The former general was trying to be objective but after seeing Kruos defeated, Ebari's heart was sensitive. He didn't know what would happen if a person he cared for was unjustly hurt. Especially considering how pure her intentions were for the empire and for the throne. It could be argued that Kruos had it coming in the first place.
As he approached Varya's quarters, he hesitated before pressing his palm against the metal panel and gaining access to the room.
For once, he was relieved to see Galen already standing guard while Varya sat at the counter and drank what seemed to be tea. She was trying to stay calm and he appreciated it.
