A warrior easily flustered was not a warrior at all. In the face of battle, one could not be affected emotionally or their will would break before their body does.
Those were words the prince lived by but as he approached the castle and walked down the nearly empty hallways, he felt his heart in his throat. He was meeting his child who likely wouldn't even remember this interaction but he couldn't help the way he was feeling.

A rainbow of flowers was in one of his hands, specially picked from a nearby field by one of his subordinates. In his other hand, was a stuffed animal that someone found at one of the shops on the inside wall of the castle. It looked like a blue bear but it had six limbs instead of four.
Instantly he wondered if it was a mistake to bring them gifts and how pathetic he probably looked.
